Advanced wound-care costs in the UK: why the burden matters

Wound care is often discussed as a product category. For the health system, it is also a repeated workload: assessment, dressing changes, staff time, consumables, complications and follow-up.

Our research into UK wound-care costs is useful because it changes the product question. A new dressing should not be judged only by whether the material is technically interesting. It has to make sense inside a real care pathway.

That means looking at total burden, not only unit price. It also means being careful not to claim an economic benefit before the evidence can support it.
